About PRP Therapy

Greenwood Village board-certified physician Dr. Ian Levenson is pleased to offer platelet-rich plasma therapy, also called PRP, at The Colorado Center for Health and Longevity to help rejuvenate your skin. PRP therapy is one of the hottest cosmetic treatments on the aesthetic market due to its natural origin and promising results. It uses a patient's very own plasma to stimulate the skin, concealing the prevalence of fine lines and wrinkles. PRP therapy is also sometimes performed in conjunction with microneedling for the popular Vampire Facial. If you are interested in PRP therapy, call The Colorado Center for Health and Longevity in Greenwood Village, CO to schedule a private consultation. Dr. Levenson will be happy to discuss the benefits of PRP, as well as what it can do for your skin.

Vampire Treatments

Vampire Facial
The Vampire Facial is designed to improve the tone and texture of your complexion so it is smooth and rosy. This minimally invasive treatment can also improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Vampire Facial starts with microneedling, and then PRP serum is massaged into your face. It may take several months before you begin to see the effects of the Vampire Facial as your skin builds new tissue and collagen.

Vampire Facelift
As you age, you lose volume, texture, and sometimes acquire pigmentation and wrinkles. This is part of the normal aging process. The Vampire Facelift helps you look younger but still natural looking by adding volume while reducing spots, lines, and wrinkles. The Vampire Facelift uses an injectable dermal filler (Juvéderm or Restylane) as a scaffolding for the PRP. This activates the PRP and it eventually replaces the dermal filler. You should see some improvements in three weeks with full results in about three months.

Vampire Breast Lift
With age and breastfeeding, the breasts can become thin, droopy, and lose sensation. The Vampire Breast Lift uses PRP therapy to rejuvenate the shape and appearance of your breasts. The Vampire Breast Lift can be especially helpful if you have wrinkly, crepe paper-like skin in your cleavage. With proper treatment, the Vampire Breast Lift can improve the appearance of your breasts for up to two years.

Vampire Hair Restoration
The Vampire Hair Restoration can help if you have male or female pattern baldness, as well as areas of thinning hair. You may also benefit from the Vampire Hair Restoration if you have bald spots or other symptoms of alopecia areata. The Vampire Hair Restoration procedure applies PRP serum to your scalp to stimulate dormant hair follicles and encourage growth. The is a process that is minimally invasive and can produce excellent results.

Vampire Wing Lift
The Vampire Wing Lift uses PRP serum along with a hyaluronic acid-based filler (like Juvéderm or Restylane) to rejuvenate the labia (the "wings" of the vaginal area). The Vampire Wing Lift can help improve the shape and color of your labia if it is naturally large or it has been stretched from childbirth or aging. This minimally invasive procedure can show significant improvements in 2 – 3 months that may last for 1 – 2 years.

Ideal Candidates

Women and men with deep wrinkles, volume loss, uneven skin tone, and droopy skin are usually ideal candidates for PRP therapy. Since it promotes collagen production naturally, it's also a great treatment choice if you have tired or dull-looking skin. Talk to Dr. Levenson about any skin conditions, blood disorders, or anemia to ensure that it's safe for you to undergo PRP therapy.

Procedure Technique

After you're comfortably seated in one of our private treatment rooms, a small amount of blood will be drawn from one of your arms and put into a centrifuge machine. Typically, we draw 30cc of blood. After approximately 15 minutes on the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood separate. The procedure typically only takes about five minutes, but this will vary in each patient.

What to Expect

Plasma from PRP therapy naturally promotes collagen production and elastin to reveal tighter and younger-looking skin. Since it uses your own blood, there is no risk of allergic or adverse reactions. You can expect your skin to be a little red following treatment as some traces of red blood cells will be included in the injection. Cold packs can be used on the injection site to ease any discomfort and swelling. Dr. Levenson recommends you undergo treatments every 4 – 6 weeks to maintain results.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does PRP therapy cost?
The cost of PRP therapy will be dependent on the area being treated and if it is combined with another cosmetic procedure. Dr. Levenson will come up with an estimated cost during your initial consultation and discuss all your payment options.

How long do results from PRP therapy last?
PRP therapy has been known to last for 4 – 8 weeks. The longevity of the results will vary with each patient and will depend on the area being treated. The benefit of this procedure is that it does not require surgery or significant downtime and is more affordable.

What are the risks and complications of PRP therapy?
The risks for PRP by itself are extremely minor and include only prolonged bruising and swelling. When combined with microneedling, however, potential risks may include infection, mild scarring, pigment changes, and delayed healing. That’s why it’s important to have microneedling done by a skilled doctor who is highly experienced with the process.

Will PRP help replenish volume?
PRP therapy cannot increase volume in areas, like your cheeks and lips. Although PRP therapy offers stunning results since it rejuvenates the appearance of the skin and helps promote collagen and elastin, it will not replenish volume. If you wish to contour certain areas on the face that have lost volume, then dermal fillers may be a better treatment choice for you.

Is PRP therapy painful?
PRP injections feel similar to a dermal filler or BOTOX injection with the additional step of the plasma extraction. Typically, most patients will feel a mild pinch or pressure at the time of injection. If you are concerned about pain or discomfort, ask about including local anesthesia during your consultation.

Glowing Skin

Using PRP treatments, your complexion will look healthier and brighter than ever before, producing a glowing, beautiful appearance.
