About Chemical Peels
For the highest quality results from chemical peel treatments, The Colorado Center for Health and Longevity provides you with different choices. Your personalized chemical peel with exfoliating solutions (such as salicylic, glycolic, trichloroacetic and lactic acids) will reveal more radiant skin. Board-certified physician Dr. Ian Levenson offers chemical peel treatments that solve skin irregularities such as scars, fine lines, wrinkles, dry patches, hyperpigmentation problems, and more. Chemical peels remove damaged, dead skin cells by applying a personalized treatment to the skin that causes the upper layer to slough off. When your skin recovers and starts to repair and rejuvenate itself, you will see a smoother, clearer complexion. A chemical peel facial is a nonsurgical method to make your complexion luminous and can be used for the face and neck. To schedule a chemical peel treatment, contact our office in Greenwood Village, CO.
Variations of Chemical Peels
We offer chemical peels in multiple strengths (light, medium, and deep) to accommodate your skin concerns.
Light peels: You can receive a light peel on a lunch hour and go right back to your routine. This type of peel will remove the outer layer of your skin (the epidermis), giving your facial features a more radiant appearance and a smoother texture. We usually recommend that you schedule a light peel at least once a month for the ideal glowing results.
Medium-depth peels: This type of peel goes further into the skin and patients generally decide to have this type of facial treatment during an extended weekend. You may also want to ready yourself for increased discomfort during and about one hour following the treatment. Medium-depth peels are for patients who have deeper damage to their skin, like deeper lines and darker pigmentation problems.
Deep peels: The strongest of the three levels of peels is the deep peel and it does require the longest recovery time. This is an aggressive treatment that may leave your face itchy, peeling, and swollen for a few weeks. Patients who have a deep chemical peel generally have age or dark spots, sun damage, entrenched acne scars, and/or deep scars. Since this type of chemical peel is generally uncomfortable for patients, you may be given an anesthetic as a part of your treatment.

"Simply put Dr. Levenson is the BEST! His over the top knowledge when it comes to medicine and diagnosing an illness is second to none. His availability is second to none and his ability to prescribe a solution to an illness is second to none. He has helped heal ALL four of my kids, my wife and myself more than once. Just last week I was struck with a case of vertigo in the middle of a parking lot. I had no idea what had hit me. I called Doc L and within in two rings he picked up. Over the phone, yes over the phone he accurately diagnosed the problem, and had me go to hospital where the ER Doc came to same conclusion Doc L came to over the phone. He truly saved my life. His physicals are in depth, giving us the confidence to keep on living actively. There is no one better than Doc Levenson when it comes to taking care of the health of my family and me!"- T.M. / Google / Sep 18, 2019

"Dr. Levenson is so amazing! He does my Botox, filler, oh shot, and prescribed me my skin routine. Can I just tell you this man transformed my life! Lol. In 2011 I had broken my upper jaw that forced my teeth back (I know horrific) and as a result my top lip lost a lot of volume. When I finally got the courage to do filler..(I was scared because I didn’t want to look fake) Dr. Levinson WOULD NEVER make anyone look over done. I feel like I got my beauty back after feeling very insecure from the trauma I experienced from my accident. As far as the oh shot, can I just say... I have spent YEARS in bladder pain. Chronic, constant bladder pain. I got so used to it... I didn’t know what it felt like to not have my bladder “on” 24/7. That’s not an exaggeration. I told Dr. L this and he said let’s try the oh shot for you to help regenerate that tissue around the urethra. Well can I tell you after YEARS of dealing with this I have had such an amazing reduction that I can enjoy normal activities like the gym, the movies, meditation class. All those things suffered because my life revolves around trickling urine. I don’t have leakage anymore, I don’t get up constantly in the night. I used to get up to use the restroom 3-5 times a night. It WAS AWFUL. I feel like a normal human being again!!!!!!! Oh, also I used to have horrible acne in my teens and 20s and now at 33 I feel and look healthier & younger than I did then!!!!"- J.C. / Google / Jul 21, 2019
"They are the best. Literally no other doctor I would see!"- C.O. / Google / Oct 18, 2017
Seeking the advice of a skin specialist is the first part in the journey to smooth, healthy skin. A team member at The Colorado Center for Health and Longevity will evaluate your skin during an examination in our Greenwood Village office before selecting a chemical peel for optimal results. Chemical peel patients, both men and women, will have visible issues with their skin such as rough patches, acne scars, discoloration, flaky skin, fine lines, sun spots, and more. We can recommend different levels of peels to meet your concerns.
On the day of your appointment at The Colorado Center for Health and Longevity, we ask you to lie in a comfortable position to administer your treatment. A team member will ensure your skin is cleaned prior to applying the personalized solution to your face and/or neck. We will brush the solution onto your skin and allow it to work for an appropriate length of time that will be determined in your chemical peel consultation. Then, we will put on a neutralizing agent and clean the peel off your skin. You may want to bring sunscreen and a hat to wear outside following the treatment to avoid sun exposure.
What to Expect
Based on the type of the chemical peel you have, you should expect your skin to peel and itch for several days to two-plus weeks. Dr. Levenson or a member of his team will go over how to treat your face during your appointment. Please remember that no matter how badly your skin itches throughout the healing process, it's not a good idea to pull the skin off. You may cause scarring!
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a chemical peel cost?
Dr. Levenson can discuss your costs during your consultation once he has developed your personalized treatment plan. Costs for a chemical peel will vary depending on the intensity you choose. The Colorado Center for Health and Longevity takes several payments methods and we often run specials on skin treatments like chemical peels. Buying a package with several chemical peel treatments can also help you save money.
What level should I choose for my chemical peel?
Which level of chemical peel is best for you will vary based on your specific skin concerns and aesthetic goals. In your initial consultation with Dr. Levenson, he can help you decide which formula is best for your skin. A few things you might want to consider are your general health, the type of skin you have, the depth of your skin concerns, the time you can commit to recovery, and what you want the peel to accomplish. For your first peel, it is better to try a light chemical peel and decide what you think of the results. After this, you and Dr. Levenson can adjust your treatment plan to find the best type of peel for you.
Will my face hurt after a chemical peel?
Based on the peel selected, you might feel mild discomfort throughout the treatment and shortly after. If you get a light peel, you will notice a little discomfort; however, this can be alleviated with the use of a small fan. Deep or medium peels are better for deeper skin blemishes and longer-lasting results; however, they can cause greater discomfort. Numbing cream, skin medications, and soothing ointments may be used to help you feel more comfortable during your chemical peel. Dr. Levenson or a member of his team will explain how to care for your skin after a peel to maintain your results.
Can I combine a chemical peel with other treatments?
A chemical peel may be combined with another nonsurgical skin treatment at The Colorado Center for Health and Longevity. In your initial consultation, be open with Dr. Levenson when describing your skin goals so he can develop a comprehensive treatment plan that delivers your best results. Your plan might include adding an injectable treatment for wrinkles (such as Juvéderm or BOTOX), plus a chemical peel to refresh your entire face.
