Minimally Invasive Alternatives to Facelifts

Medical Spa Treatments: Thread Lift

For a minimally invasive alternative to a surgical facelift, board-certified physician Dr. Ian Levenson offers a thread lift. Also called a lunchtime or feather lift, a thread lift uses absorbable sutures to lift and contour the loose skin and tissue of your face for a smoother, younger look.

Easily performed in one of the treatment rooms at The Colorado Center for Health and Longevity in Greenwood Village, Dr. Levenson performs the thread lift to help patients who want to turn back the hands of time without surgery or unnatural results. The fine threads involved in a thread lift help to stimulate the natural production of collagen so your complexion will become firmer and healthier over time, all without invasive, painful, and costly surgery.

To learn more about the benefits of a thread lift, schedule a consultation with Dr. Levenson at The Colorado Center for Health and Longevity.

Professional Neck Thread Lifts & Face Thread Lifts

A thread lift is performed as a minor procedure in our office. You will be awake during the procedure, but your face may be numbed with a local anesthesia. While your thread lift will be customized to your individual needs, here’s how the procedure generally works:

  • Dr. Levenson marks the entrance and exit points on your face.
  • He’ll then use a fine needle to insert the thread through your skin and tissue.
  • Your skin is then tightened by carefully pulling the thread in the desired direction.

A thread lift typically takes about 1 hour, depending on the area of the face being lifted.

After your thread lift, you will be able to leave to recover at home. You may have some redness, bruising, and swelling in and around the thread insertion and exit points for several days. Thread lifts can yield visible results directly after the procedure. You should see smoother skin with a lifted and contoured appearance. With proper care, results can last for several years. Additional threads may need to be used after the initial procedure to maintain results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of a thread lift vs. fillers?

Fillers aren’t the opposite of a thread lift -- in fact, a thread lift can actually be combined with other procedures to significantly improve your appearance without the need for surgery.

Most often, a thread lift is performed with an injectable wrinkle relaxer, like BOTOX, or a dermal filler, like Juvéderm or Restylane. Along with a thread lift, an injectable can add volume or smooth away lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.

Will my thread lift look natural?

When done properly, a thread lift can help you look younger, but still natural. If you are concerned about natural-looking results, it's important to choose an experienced physician, like Dr. Levenson, who will perform your thread lift based on your goals. He focuses on helping his patients look refreshed and not tight or wind-blown.

How much does a thread lift cost near me?

The cost of your thread lift will vary based on the extent of the procedure. During your consultation, Dr. Levenson will listen to your needs and goals so he can create your custom thread lift treatment plan. From there, he will be able to estimate your costs and discuss your payment options.

Is a thread lift better than a facelift?

A thread lift is better if you have mild to moderate signs of aging while a surgical facelift may be a better option for more advanced concerns. A thread lift can improve the appearance of loose, wrinkled skin while contouring your face, but it does not eliminate excess skin. During your consultation, Dr. Levenson will help you decide whether you are a good candidate for a thread lift.
